Dawns (Dear Ella) Print
from $20.00
This piece is about my love for my sister, singing folk songs with the windows down on windy mountain roads, talking under starry skies miles from town, and the feeling of returning home after so long. When we were kids we tried getting matching stick and pokes. These days her sun looks more like a bruise and my crescent moon looks like a smiley face but the memory makes me laugh, and I hid both our failed tatts into this piece. I really pushed my colors, and the result is a piece dripping in the nostalgia of girlhood. Growing up all the western art that was supposedly about where I live never felt like it fit my perspective. “The western” genre is so gritty and masculine. Yet, ponies belong to the little girls. My sister wants to be a farmer, so maybe she’ll have some of her own! These two live in my back yard.
Hook Up Print
from $20.00
“Hook up” Acrylic on canvas 16x20” 🎣💕🌈 Made this piece to poke fun at the hoards of 😍fishermen😋 on tinder and to speak to what I think of dating culture online. Much of my work is about the tension on humans and technology, and I think dating apps are a really interesting place to study. As you know I’m obsessed with rainbow trout (I used to fish once upon a time) and the fish puns for dating (dating pool, plenty of fish, watch a catch, ect.) are endless. People were wondering about my specific experiences that inspired this and tbh men can be very weird and aggressive! Or just sleazy and don’t see me as a human. Theres a lot of talk about ‘male loneliness epidemic’ but we gotta talk about how you guys are scaring the hoes. Men are in my comments saying it’s the only time they feel comfortable taking a selfie is with a fish. WOW 💔what a struggle. Buy a tripod. I don’t think women are at fault here... also, no hate to respectful cool fishermen, keep it up lol. Had so much fun layering all the colors and textures! Prints are on my Etsy, thank you to everyone who ordered!
